Recent scientific research indicates that Miwana’s
nasal spray containing saline solution reduces the number of days
it normally takes to recover from a cold by half. Miwana’s
nasal spray contains a non-harmful saline solution that can be
used by children and adults alike.
“The results are extremely pleasing. They indicate that
a saline solution offers an effective and gentle way of washing
the nose clean, keeping the nasal membranes free from particles,”
says professor Matti Anniko at the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic
at Uppsala University Hospital.
60 conscripts took part in the study that lasted for two ten-week
periods. They were divided into two groups, with one of the groups
using Miwana’s nasal spray every day in the morning and
evening. After ten weeks and a two-week break, the groups changed
over. Throughout the study period, they all kept diaries in which
they noted their symptoms, such as running noses, colds and nasal
congestion. The study revealed that the use of a saline solution
reduced the number of days with symptoms of a cold from the nose
by almost half – six and a half days using a spray, compared
to eleven days when not using a spray. The study also showed that
a saline solution helps prevent respiratory problems.
“The fact that this is the first study of its kind that
includes such a large group of people over such a long period
of time makes the study statistically significant. Without doubt,
this is a step forward when it comes to reducing colds and cold-related
problems,” remarks professor Matti Anniko. |

Miwana’s nasal care products contain
a physiological (relating to the function of the body) saline
solution that washes away viruses and bacterial infections from
the nasal membranes. It is a completely safe product that can
be used by babies, children and adults. The products are available
as nasal sprays, drops and nasal douche.
Miwana’s nasal spray is as close to the body’s own
fluid as you can get. You can choose to use a spray every day
all year round, only when you have a cold or on occasions when
you want to avoid catching a cold,” explains Matti Anniko.
This study was conducted by Liselott Tano, regimental medical
officer at Boden Garrison, and Krister Tano, doctor at the ENT
clinic in Sunderbyn. It has been accepted for publication in the
Acta Oto-Laryngologica journal and is now on the journal's website:
